Piano Recommendations

The Stillpoint Piano Method recommends Classic Pianos
for all of your digital piano needs

If you currently do not own an acoustic or digital piano, you may find the information contained on this page helpful.

After I developed the Stillpoint Piano Method educational program for the internet, I realized that some people interested in learning to play the piano would not have an instrument. For some students though, either because of price or limited space, having an acoustic piano is not a viable option. For these students, a digital piano can be a reasonable alternative.

However, since there are so many keyboard and digital piano options on the market, students may find it all a bit overwhelming to navigate. This page was created to help students simplify the proceedure.

When it comes to digital piano products, my preferred choice is Yamaha. I have been using Yamaha digital pianos since 1990 and can attest to their high standards of quality and innovation.  My goal here is to simplify the process and narrow the choices down to a few quality digital instruments in several price ranges. These instruments can be shipped to most places domestic and international.

The company I  recommend for all of you digital piano purchases is Classic Piano. Classic Piano is one of the main distributors of Yamaha pianos and keyboards on the U.S. west coast. They are highly respected for their knowledge and customer service and have received Yamahas Distinguished Diamond Top Dealer Award.

One of their main branches is located near where I live in Portland, Oregon. I am very familiar with Classic Piano and  visit their store quite frequently to check out the latest Yamaha keyboards and grand pianos. Maurice Unis, the owner of Classic Piano, is one of the most respected names in the acoustic and digital piano business in the Northwest United States.

For those of you that do not have a piano or keyboard, it is my hope that the information provided below can assist you in making a purchase through Classic Piano. You will find contact information for Classic Piano. Classic Piano is working closely with the Stillpoint educational internet project.

To receive special discounts and promotions, please be sure to mention the Stillpoint Method in your email or phone correspondence.

Below I have listed several digital piano choices that may help simplfy your search.

Visitors to our store often compare us to the book by Thad Carhart  "The Piano Shop on the Left Bank: Discovering a Forgotten Passion in a Paris Atelier."

As a "virtual" visitor, we invite you to explore our shop through these Web pages and galleries. Here, you'll see some of the more than 300 pianos in our shop and showrooms.
Our family's "passion for pianos" has been thriving in Portland for four generations. In this tradition, we offer you the best possible price and value on the piano that's right for you.

In 2001 Maurice Unis and his eldest son, Brian, opened Classic Pianos - next to the Aladdin Theater - at 3003 SE Milwaukie Avenue in a historic building that had earlier housed a violin maker.
As soon as the shop was established, there grew up around Classic a very diverse community of piano-related businesses - craftsmen and technicians dedicated to the restoration of fine old instruments, a piano moving company, piano teachers working out of the studios at
Classic, and a sheet music business.

Today, continuing a fourth generation of dedication to the piano business, all three of the Unis sons have been involved with Classic Pianos of Portland. Brian, Maurice’s eldest son, is head of operations – having been raised in the “piano world” all his life and trained by his father in all phases of the piano business.
